CAS Colours & Sketches #249 - Sketch

Hey!

Happy Thursday and my apologies for being two days late with my CAS Colours& Sketches DT card. It's been a crazy week with bugs & working away from home for me, but I am just about caught up now!

This month our hostess is Samantha and she has come up with some wonderful inspiration, including this sketch HERE and below to inspire us...

And here is how I have used the sketch...

I needed a masculine birthday card and after looking at the sketch it made me think of the long building stamps from the Uniko Background Builders range.

With its popularity, newness and still being in stock on the website, I reached for Background Builders Seeing Stars!

I used my MISTI to position and stamp the linear star stripes to replicate the sketch in Altenew Ocean Waves, Dusk and Desert Night. The sentiment is a mix from All Occasion Sentiments #2 and Simply Said Birthday.

I finished the card off by adding a few enamel stars in as close a match colours as I had in my stash!

That's all from me today & thanks for stopping by, but if you need some more inspiration using the challenge be sure to hop on over HERE to see what the rest of the CAS Colours & Sketches Design Team have made.

November 2017 Design Team Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY!

Hey!

It's time for another Uniko Design Team Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY - Whoohoo!! For those of you who are new around these parts I will explain what this post is all about...

Here at Uniko HQ it is just myself behind the screen, blogging, designing, packaging stamps & orders through the Uniko online shop, customer service and all the things in between. I *usually* release new product every other month for a number of reasons, but mainly so I can keep up with everything!

On non - release months like this month I like to set myself and the Design Team a challenge to look back at a previously released product and give it some more love.

Usually I choose a product that was released the previous year or a once favourite that hasn't seen much air time! This month however, I decided to look back at a few products Uniko released in October 2017 HERE.

Specifically the Uniko Designer Dies and NEW Uniko Stencils...

Designer Die Snowflake Trio £15

Celebrate With Silver Stars!

Hey & Happy Hump Day!

Gosh, how this week is flying by and I feel totally behind on all my 'to do' list tasks! At least I got this one ticked off ;)

Today I am sharing a card I made a while back, but as the stamps I have used were out of stock I kept it back to share when they were available again!

I've used the popular Background Blocks Scattered Polka Dots and Background Builders: Seeing Stars clear stamps, paired with a sentiment from Simply Said Blocks. All of which are now available on the Uniko website.

I am absolutely loving these two In Colours from Stampin' Up! Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist, such a fresh and zingy colour combination. It certainly adds much needed colour to this grey Autumn, almost Winter day here in the NE of the UK!

I've used a little tone on tone stamping for the polka dot background, using my MISTI and my Stampin' Up! markers. The stars and sentiment are stamped in VersaMark ink and heat embossed with Personal Impressions Silver Dollar EP.

I adhered the sentiment strip and the outline star using half thickness foam adhesive and embellished with a few Stampin' Up! enamel dots.

That's all from me today, I had better make a dent in the 'to do' list whilst the Beans are at nursery. They are on a trip today to a local Wildlife Park to do The Gruffalo Trail, this term their learning through play is centred around books by Julie Donaldson. I am sure they are loving it as we often take them to this park and so do their grandparents!

Thanks for stopping by & I hope you enjoyed todays card.

CAS Colours & Sketches #248 - Colours

Hey!

Happy Tuesday and happy November! I can't believe we are into another new month, these days and weeks are flying by so quickly I can hardly keep up!

The weather here in the NE of the UK seems to all of a sudden turned very cold and wintery. I don't mind the cold as long as it isn't raining and cold! Luckily so far its been dry/sunny and cold!

Anyway, back to why you are here!

A new month means a new hostess at CAS Colours & Sketches. This month our hostess is Samantha and she has come up with some wonderful inspiration, including this colour combo HERE and below to start us off...

And here is how I have used the colours...

Greens, not my strongest colour to work with and when I use a green I tend to choose more earthy greens or bright lime greens. So I was a little stumped at first when I saw this combo!

When I get stuck I often turn to Instagram or Pinterest for inspiration and thats what I did. As I don't have these colours in Stampin' Up! ink, (I could have matched close colours) but had them in card stock, I was looking for a design to incorporate card.

I was heavily inspired by Laurie Schmidlin's striped snowflake card on this post HERE. I am drawn to anything with a snowflake on it and even more so when there are stripes involved too!

I trimmed a panel of white card and simply adhered strips of alternating Tranquil Tide and Emerald Envy card, leaving a gap in between. I then die cut the panel using a MFT stitched die.

The snowflake is the medium one from the Uniko Designer Die Snowflake Trio die cut from a silver shimmer CS. I bought this from The Papermill many many moons ago and only have small off cuts left :( The sentiment is from Pure Florals: Poinsettia stamped and embossed in Silver Dollar EP. Both the snowflake & striped panel are adhered to a white card base using half thickness foam adhesive.

That's all from me today & thanks for stopping by, but if you need some more inspiration using the challenge be sure to hop on over HERE to see what the rest of the CAS Colours & Sketches Design Team have made.

Uniko Stamping Retreat!

Hey & Happy Monday!

If you follow Uniko on social media or subscribe to the newsletter, you might have seen my advert for the Uniko Stamping Retreat?!

I thought I'd pop by and share a little about the day here too ;)

{Click Photo For A Closer Look}

It has taken me a while, but I have finally found the perfection location to hold Uniko events like this Stamping Retreat!

I wanted somewhere which was close to where I live in the North East of the UK, not too big and not too small. I wanted somewhere with character and the ability to adapt to the requirements of my ideals for Uniko events. Then one day my close friend who I have got to know though having the beans and hosting play dates told me about one of her new adventures with her husband and a couple of friends and a venue their are hiring out, literally 20 minutes away from where I live. I knew of it straight away and had no doubt that it was perfect!

The Station House at Wynyard Woodlands Park...

Set in a beautiful woodland park is this old station house, which most recently was a visitor centre. As you walk in you are greeted with a space filled with character and warmth. With a spaces perfect for a hive of creativity.

I am so excited to be holding the first Uniko Stamping Retreat on Saturday 9th December 2017 10am - 4pm at this venue!

Why is it called a Stamping Retreat? I hear you ask!

Simply because the focus of the day is on stamping with Uniko clear stamps and retreating to this wonderful location!

I didn't want to call it a class, as that sounds to formal. The day is about being relaxed and enjoying the creative process. Whether you are an expert stamper/crafter, beginner or somewhere in between, this is the day for you.

What is involved/included?

If you ever attended one of my previous 'classes' at The Paperlane in Northallerton, the overall structure is similar, but I have added in some NEW things too ;)

I will be designing a collection of cards using the NEW Uniko December Release, which is based around Spring & Florals. You will receive a 'kit' that will contain all the instructions and materials to make 5 - 6 cards throughout the day at your own pace. I will be there to help and guide individuals as needed and I will demonstrate any techniques to the whole group at the beginning of the day.

Along with the kit there will be two individual project / technique stations for each of you to take turns, have a go and make during the day. For December these will be...

* A stencilling technique station. You will get to have a 'play' with some new Uniko Stencil Designs and make a card using them!

* A small MDF stamped hanging decoration.

Along with all this you will receive a Uniko Goodie Tote Bag! This will contain a FREE clear stamp set from the December Release and a few other goodies. The total worth of this goodie bag will be £10 ;)

There will be optional kit purchases available, clean and simple Christmas cards using the recent Uniko October Release and a kit based on the Uniko September Release. These will be priced at £5 each.

There will also be a Uniko pop up shop of all the items available on the Uniko website! You will receive 10% off any purchases made during the day!

Does this sound FUN or what?! I can hardly wait ;) I do hope that some of you will be able to come and enjoy this day with myself and Uniko!

For more details and to book your place pop on over HERE to the website.

CAS Colours & Sketches #247 - The Double!

Hey!

Happy Tuesday, after a little hiatus last week due it being half term and the Beans were off nursery, meaning little time to get much done I am back! I can't believe we are on the last day of October!

As this is the 5th Tuesday of October, it is 'The Double' challenge over HERE at CAS Colours & Sketches!

Here is the challenge...

And here is how I have used both the colours & the sketch...

I usually struggle with the double, but this time I knew exactly what I wanted to create and what supplies to use!

I've been so inspired by my awesome DT and how they have been using the NEW Uniko Stencils, like Jane and Lindsey have HERE and HERE, that I had to give them some more love!

I've used the Wonky Stripes Stencil and I simply masked off to ink one stripe at a time, one in Baja Breeze and one in Real Red as I don't have Riding Hood Red! I then used the Festive Sentiments to stamp the Merry Christmas and mounted the panel flat to a River Rock card base. A few enamel stars finished the card off.

That's all from me today, I am hoping to catch up on some work once the beans are at nursery today and *try* not to eat all the Halloween sweets before the Trick or Treaters come this evening!!

Thanks for stopping by, but if you need some more inspiration using the challenge be sure to hop on over HERE to see what the rest of the CAS Colours & Sketches Design Team have made.

DT Inspiration - Halloween ....

... Hi! It's Deborah here with you today - and it's been a while! We've been in Michigan for 5½ years now and today is our 5th Halloween celebration. Much to my daughter's delight, Halloween is HUGE over here. Tonight, she and her friend Alyx are off to downtown Northville to celebrate Halloween in style. It's a big event - the fire station rings its bell at 6.00pm and kids appear from everywhere - all dressed up. They visit the houses that have been beautifully (horrifically) decorated, and then at 8.00pm the fire bell rings again and all the kids seem to vanish! It's such fun!

There are no specific Halloween stamps in Bev's collection (hint, hint), but that didn't stop me. Just for a change, I've made a scrapbook page:

I used lots of different sets to create this page. I started off by stamping the chevrons in purple and orange at the top and bottom of the page. Next, I used one of the new stencils - Scattered Polka Dots - to create my own pattern for the page. lightly sponging dots in purple and orange. I added the date and then layered on some stars from Background Builders Seeing Stars, again in purple and orange. On some scrap white card, which I'd backed with Stick It double sided adhesive, I stamped the letters to make the word Halloween and embossed them with clear powder, and then carefully cut out each letter and attached them to the page. The word 'Happy' comes from the new Festive Sentiments set and I stamped it directly on the page. I also stamped some of the larger stars from Background Builders Seeing Stars, cut them out and coloured over them with Copics. I used several dies to cut the cobweb, the spider and the skeletons. I found a little vellum ghost, made from Uniko Style, on my desk that was left over from a Halloween card make.

The picture above shows my original plan for the page - I was going to add some words on the central panel. But I wasn't happy how it looked, so I played again and came up with this:

I was much happier with this layout and went to work building up the layers with lots of stencilling and stamping:

The photos are ones I took a couple of years ago. The skeletal couple kissing under the spider is from the Skeletons Alive display that takes place throughout October in Northville. The very scary scarecrow was on display at Three Cedars Farm - another wonderful place to visit in Northville. I layered the photos on design paper and glitter paper and added frames to match. The die cut skeleton has been covered in sparkle from a clear Wink of Stella brush - it really does look amazing in real-life.

Thanks so much for stopping by to see my Uniko post today. I had so much fun making this scrapbook page and really must do more. Stamps make so much more than just cards!! Here's another quick look at my Halloween page:

You can find full details of the project on my blog - Deborah's Gems. Bye for now! See you again soon.
